Since 24 May 1997, Zwijndrecht has been home to a unique museum.
In three large exhibition halls with a floor area of almost 15,000 square metres, over 300 historic vehicles are displayed against a background of period décor. They provide an excellent overview of the American logistical system in the Second World War.
When touring the museum, you could well imagine that you had gone back in time. A third hall is used for the storage and major maintenance of the vehicles. The equipment on display is in excellent condition and looks as good as new. That should come as no surprise, as every vehicle has been dismantled down to the last nut and bolt, then reconstructed and made roadworthy.
On the ‘Museum History’ page you can find more information about the museum and its founder, and how the collection was assembled.
On the page headed ‘Your Guides’, you can learn about two of the museum’s staff. Between them, they have over 100 years of knowledge and experience about the Second World War.
Under the heading ‘Special Vehicles’ you can read about some of the best items in the museum’s collection.
Our ‘Visit the Museum’ page tells you about opening hours, admission fees and how to get to the museum. |
